Looking for your next fav podcast?

Anyone else love podcasts?! I feel like there’s been a huge resurgence of audio entertainment recently. It seems like everyone and their uncle has a podcast. There’s no shortage of great pods to explore… but with more options to choose from, it can get overwhelming. The following list is a continually growing collection of the podcasts I really enjoy as a psych student. Some of them are educational and some are just for fun. Maybe you’ll find your next fav ;).

1. The Psychology of Your 20s

Entertainment: ★★★★☆
Educational Value: ★★★★☆
Description

This is a really popular podcast and for good reason. Jemma takes research-based psychology concepts and applies them to super relatable issues we can all connect with. Especially if you are in your 20s like myself… it hits different. But whatever stage of life you’re in, topics like relational dynamics, finding motivation to do difficult things, and mental health are sure to resonate.

2. Growing With The Flow

Entertainment: ★★★★☆
Educational Value: ★★☆☆☆
Description:

Not quite a psychology podcast, but I love this one regardless. It technically fits more under the lifestyle category, but Nayna often discusses topics like mental health, relationships, mindfulness, and navigating student life with intention. Also, her voice is really relaxing. If you’re looking for something to unwind to, give this one a try.

3. Psychology Unplugged

Entertainment: ★★★☆☆
Educational Value: ★★★★★

Description:

This one is a little heavier in terms of content and depth. The episodes are on the longer side, often ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. But it’s so rich in great content. I actually like to use this podcast for studying and exam prep because it helps me dig deep into specific concepts I’m learning. The sheer breadth of topics covered on this pod means you can find episodes covering all aspects of psychology.

4. All In The Mind

All In The Mind podcast cover
Entertainment: ★★☆☆☆
Educational Value: ★★★★☆
Description:

Another solid psych education resource. All In The Mind is a podcast that explores topics relating to the brain, behaviour, and essentially everything related to… the mind. As the name suggests. It might not say “psychology” in the title, but psych is the study of the human brain, behaviour, and feelings, so all the topics covered relate to psychology. I like this podcast because there’s a wide range and diversity of topics covered. Some are more academic and others are weirdly niche, like the psychology behind road rage.

5. The Mindful Kind

The Mindful Kind podcast cover
Entertainment: ★★★☆☆
Educational Value: ★★★☆☆

Description:

This one is special to me because I first found it when I was in high school and really struggling with my anxiety. The Mindful Kind is a podcast centred on helping people live mindfully. There’s practical advice on how to use mindful practices to unwind, improve relationships, and help you navigate life without burning out. This podcast just radiates safe and soothing vibes, so if you’ve been stressed, be sure to give it a listen.

6. Stuff You Should Know

Stuff You Should Know podcast cover
Entertainment: ★★★★☆
Educational Value: ★★★★★
Description:

Again, not exactly directly about psychology, but it’s too fun not to include. It’s hard to really describe this podcast because the range of topics covered is truly so diverse and eclectic. Think of it like fun facts in episode form. If you’ve ever wanted to know about… everything? This is the pod for you. You’ll find answers to questions you never even thought to ask, like deep dives into squirrels or the history of fire.
